Postpartum care at the The Natural Birth Place is individualized. As midwives, we know how vulnerable and unknown the postpartum period is, which is why we will see you 2-3 days after your birth, again at 1 week, and then again at 2 weeks and 4 weeks or as needed until your final 6 week postpartum appointment. This allows us to support you in your lactation journey, monitor your newborn closely, and also allows us to be available for education and counseling. We believe that this model of postpartum care is what sets us apart.

Postnatal Services include:

  • Initial maternal and infant follow up within 72 hours of birth

  • CCHD screening of newborn

  • Facilitate newborn screening and hearing assessments

  • Latch evaluation for the lactating parent

  • Feeding support

  • Family planning (Contraceptive counseling and issuance of prescription if needed)
